14-year-old mergim alin became 'reading king' at the kronach district competition

The level was extremely high. The english "r was rolled that it was a real joy, and even the darned "ti-aitsch" all the readers read fluently from their lips, or rather through their teeth. We’re talking about the exciting district english reading competition, which the eighth-grade winners of middle schools in the district faced on tuesday. The competition was held for the tenth time this year.
At the district competition in kronach, it was not only a question of correct pronunciation and intonation, but also of a flowing presentation. Whether the participants had pronounced and emphasized everything correctly was decided by a jury – consisting of teachers from the respective schools as well as deputy district administrator bernd steger. Although reading in front of an audience is no easy task, the bookworms showed little sign of excitement. In the first round, the five eighth graders and the one eighth grader read a text of their own choice. The eventual winner mergim alin chose "touring the everglades". The real challenge came in round two, when they had to read aloud a text selected by the organizer andrea karl-kremer – a specialist advisor at the gottfried-neukam middle school – in a lively, expressive and, if possible, error-free manner. This was the beginning of the english-reading "bat action time!" – an enchanting story about ben the bat and his best friends toby the pigeon and izzy the owl, who set off on a rude adventure. Only a few minutes were given to them to read the book. Nevertheless, all participants did their job very well. Congratulations!
To the "reading king mergim alin was deservedly chosen. It is no coincidence that the 14-year-old was able to communicate the text very clearly and confidently; after all, he is a native speaker (native speakers).

Off to the district competition!

The eighth-grader grew up in london and came to weibenbrunn with his albanian parents only a year and a half ago. English is then also the favorite subject of the lese-konig, who is now on 3. The contest was held for the tenth time this year, and the winners will represent the district at the county level in may in bayreuth. All participants (gottfried-neukam-MS kronach: leonard muller (m8a) and abdallateef al haj saleh (8c), MS pressig: gloria gotz (8a), MS kups: benjamin fischer (8b) and mergim alin (8a), MS windheim: dimitrios antonin) were rewarded with book gifts and a certificate that will surely look good on a job application. The district winner was also presented with a gift from the district, which was handed over by steger. "With english you can get around the world", he urged them to learn the world language comprehensively. He as well as karl-kramer and the new head of the school authority in kronach, gisela rohde, were very pleased with the excellent performance of the team. "This is my first official act in my new function and also for me an exciting thing", rohde, who has only been a visitor to the castle since the 15th century, said he had never seen anything like it. Marz is active at the kronach school board.

The way to school of klaus kuhrau

the way to school of klaus kuhrau

The burggegfluster "lighthearted times" by romy denk (BR from 2. August) inspired the former pastor of mangersreuth, klaus kuhrau. He has written under the title "our way to school" the following is an article we are pleased to publish:

"Now, at the age of 77, I would love to walk once again in peace and quiet, just for myself, along our former school path, which I walked at the age of seven! That was in eppendorf in saxony from the last property in the freiberger strabe, the schneider-bayern, about two kilometers to the center of town. We had moved here from east prussia in 1944.

Summer hits instead of school lessons

summer hits instead of school lessons

The summer concert of the dr.-ernst-schmitt-realschule ebern not only almost blew up the auditorium of the middle school because of the number of listeners – the performances also caught the attention of the audience
"summer hits" and inspired the 500 or so listeners. A musical journey through four continents and eight countries comprised the repertoire of the various choruses of the secondary school, which filled the auditorium with vocals, instrumental music with drum rolls, and dance.

Realschulkonrektor florian schraud had not promised too much when, after the song "ring of fire", he said that the band would be the first to perform, intoned by the school orchestra under the direction of bernd schmidt, announced to experience an international musical evening. "Enjoy the summer concert of our secondary school in a relaxed atmosphere", he said.

Do not question unity despite some exchanges

Do not question unity despite some exchanges

"Since chemnitz, the questions of german unity are more topical than ever", CSU member of the state parliament jurgen baumgartner emphasized at a ceremony at franz-josef straub's memorial stone in banz monastery. "We are proud of how courageously, wisely and peacefully the people of east germany have asserted their will for freedom and unity. And have the confidence that we are now building the common house more carefully and better than ever before", he said.

But there were still enormous tasks to be accomplished. The consequences of decades of planned economy lasted much longer than expected. Problems still persisted. "Our hopes and ambitions are often more than one step ahead of things, and occasionally they go far beyond what is objectively possible", stated the delegate. A harmful self-overload threatens from the impatience with economic reconstruction. This impatience is understandable, but it must not be exaggerated to the detached questioning of our unity. It is also true that germany has to face three challenges at the same time: the reconstruction of east germany, the enormous pressure of modernization caused by new technologies and globalization, and migration.

Hellmitzheimer are asked to pay

Hellmitzheimer are asked to pay

2013 will be a very expensive year for some of the citizens of the iphof district of hellmitzheim, because after the acceptance of the last tree removal in the context of the city construction requirement, the city will send out the contribution notices in the next few weeks. This was stated by mayor josef mend to the 60 or so people present at the town hall meeting.

For smaller properties, the amounts to be paid will be between 4,000 and 6,000 euros; for larger properties, the contributions will be two to three times as high, explained mend. He pointed out that the people of burgenland have known for many years what they were facing financially.

Friends of nature hiked

The naturfreunde kulmbach started the new year with a winter hike followed by a fortified drink. 45 participants met for this purpose at the katzbachtal settlers’ home – more than ever before. Due to weather conditions, organizer manfred motschenbacher led the members through the streets and many alleyways of the settlement. To the surprise of many, some ways were unknown until now.

The winter tour led from the katzbach valley, past the kreuzkirche church and the mangersreuth school, crisscrossing the settlement with its now mostly rebuilt settlement houses. One or the other memory about incidents and events was told, for the younger ones this was mostly new territory. Back we went over the eastern part of mangersreuth past the former youth hostel, which was once owned by the nature lovers. This information was also completely new for many participants.

Record attendance at crana mare

Record attendance at crana mare

It was the eighth time that the DLRG district association had organized its well-known 24-hour swimming event in cooperation with the city of kronach and the municipal utilities. A total of 341 water rats – 59 more than two years ago – covered a distance of exactly 1192,700 meters, another great achievement! However, the top result of the last event was not quite reached, as some strong performers were not at the start.

Shared seats

From saturday, 1 p.M., to sunday, 1 p.M., the participating water rats aged between five and 75 could do their laps to their heart’s content or according to their condition. Swimming breaks were possible at any time. Also the swimming style could be chosen freely. The hardest swimmers from the respective competition classes were honored with winner trophies. Since there were many close decisions and many a podium position had to be shared, it was sometimes very tight on the "podium".
With 32,050 m, xenia makeev (age group 2003) not only achieved first place in her age group of nine to 15 years, but also the best overall performance of all participants. Second place in this age group went to lara-marie hofmann (15 km), third place to sarah hofmann (12 km). With marius jagusch (age group 2002) and konstantin mesch (age group 2004) two young swimmers reached the top of the podium with a swimming performance of 22.5 km. Third place was awarded three times this year, as kilian wegner, bastian martin and felix kopp each covered 20.1 km.
The most vigorous swimmer of the competition was gerhard wich (born in 1964), who in his age group of 15 years struggled through the water for exactly 30 150 m, followed by bjorn dorsch with 17.9 km and ulrich beez with 17.1 km.
With a strong 30 km, svenja fischer (age group 1999) equaled her swimming performance from 2015 and was again able to secure first place among swimmers over 15 years of age. Karin dressel with 19 km and jessica dietz with 17.9 km followed with a clear distance on the second and third rank.
But not only the performances of the day’s best, but also of all other participants were more than respectable. 341 participants – 144 women and 197 men – took part in the one-day endurance swim. In the youngest age group (up to and including 8 years), florian fischer (age group 2010) and anika walter (age group 2009) won the boys’ race and the girls’ race, respectively. Florian managed 4750 m, anika 8400 m.
The oldest participants also presented themselves in top shape – horst werner in the men’s category with 75 years (2.1 km) and barbara neubauer in the women’s category with 62 years (1600 m). Youngest participants were six-year-old max neidhardt (50 m) and one-year-younger freya schuberth (1 km). The participating groups also ran smoothly. DLRG kronach was once again unbeatable in the club competition. This year it covered an incredible 498.55 km, and the school with the highest number of participants was frankenwaldgymnasium with 30 swimmers.

The rodachtal school was her home

The rodachtal school was her home

"40 years ago, I had to introduce myself to the burgermeisters, now the burgermeister even comes to see me," says, irmgard bauerfeind says with a laugh during her farewell speech. She likes to think back to the long years at the elementary school and the former main school rodachtal. First in zeyern and then in the new school building in marktrodach.

"I received the letter from the government on 6. August 1973 again found, although already somewhat yellowed, but clearly to read is that I must in the rodachtal and I have not regretted that until today", says the retiring teacher thoughtfully. And her private happiness also affected her fellow teachers, so that after her marriage to reinhard bauerfeind she never considered a transfer. "For me, for all of us, a dream came true when we moved into the new school building. Working with the three cs – church, community, kindergarten – has always been very enjoyable for me. But what I will miss most now is 'my children', their ignorance, open-mindedness and their joy", irmgard bauerfeind gets a little sentimental. But the look goes back in gratitude, even if the farewell hurts her a bit.

Full concentration on the road

Full concentration on the road

Writing a quick whatsapp message? A quick look at the cell phone to see who made the call? No problem within your own four walls. Neither in the office. Highly dangerous in the car. The police department in kitzingen is holding a day of action to draw attention to the dangers of distraction in traffic.

Harald hufnagel and his colleagues have had to record many accidents in which the drivers were simply distracted. Eating, drinking, a conversation with the passenger, crying children in the back seat: all this can lead to a moment of inattention while driving. And already it happened.
