Training for the worst

It was assumed that two workers had fainted in the sewer pipe – presumably due to gases – and now had to be rescued from the pipe and then from the construction pit, which was about eight meters deep.
The firefighters’ own safety was the top priority, and so the air at the bottom of the pit was first analyzed using special equipment. City fire chief michael wolf, who had observed and planned the exercise, had even had some nitrogen introduced to see if the measuring devices would respond.
After this was the case, a team with pre-air breathers descended into the construction site, but without using the available equipment for this purpose. Because it was the task of another group to bring in there a ladder and secure it so that everything could be walked on safely.
Because of the muddy ground, they had refrained from letting anyone play the injured person and instead had placed two heavy, corporeal dolls in the channel, which first had to be retrieved from the pipe.
In the meantime, one of the two swivel ladders from kissingen had been positioned so that a pulley could be attached to the basket for the drag basket stretcher. Then everything went relatively quickly. One after the other, the two "accident victims" were brought out into the daylight by drag basket stretcher and turntable ladder.
On thursday, another such exercise will take place at the same location: for the second platoon of the volunteer fire department of bad kissingen. Because in the meantime, rescue and technical operations are numerically ahead of the actual firefighting in all fire departments.
