Plenty of time for the newspaper

Salmsdorf – her 90th birthday. Emmi vetter from salmsdorf celebrated her birthday on friday. Mentally very active, she still participates strongly in everyday life. "First thing every morning she reads the daily paper", reports son herbert vetter. She spends at least two hours at the breakfast table, reading page after page with a magnifying glass. "When I call her in the afternoon and ask about a certain topic, she knows exactly what the newspaper said about it, says vetter. Current politics, current affairs, sports, but also local news, these are her favorite topics.
Even today, she still takes part in the events of the rentweinsdorf senior citizens’ group, maintains old contacts and finds out about the latest happenings in her community. She is also always present at family celebrations and is happy to be visited. She still lives quite independently in her own apartment in the family home in salmsdorf.
1949 she moved here and married her husband ernst. Together with him, she ran a farm. She had two sons and now has four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. It was a hard blow when her husband died about three years ago. The two had been married for over 60 years. Emmi vetter, nee stadler, comes from treinfeld and the couple met at the train station there.
Her birthday was attended by deputy district administrator michael ziegler, mayor willi sendelbeck, and pastor hans korner. The senior citizens’ group was also present, so everyone spent a few pleasant hours in the salmsdorfer burgerhaus.
