Sochi’s gigantic games – a visit to “ground zero

Sochi's gigantic games - a visit to

The graveyard may stay. A little hidden behind blue tarpaulins, stone slabs with artistic portraits of the deceased defy the swirling dust. On the huge construction site where the sochi olympic park is being built, the graves between the stadium and the figure skating palace are the last relic of days long past. The former residents of the area were forcibly relocated, their houses demolished. For the gigantic project of winter games of opposites on the black sea and in the north caucasian mountains, the makers are only being held back by the peace of the dead at the most.

If you want to find out what the olympics in russian will look like in two years, start your journey in lukewarm to the coast. Here, the eaves of five ice rinks are already rising into the winter sky, cranes as rough as towers are pulling up the olympic stadium. Trees, grassy areas, a bird sanctuary are to follow. For the sporting image campaign of an entire country, the former summer health resort has set everything back to square one. "Ground zero" is what mayor anatoli pachomov calls the state of sochi at the beginning of the work – the "zero hour".

Such an atmosphere of the end of the world arises during the night drive to the second center, the mountain town of krasnaya polyana. A fast track is to take olympic tourists to the competitions on snow in just under half an hour. The rollers still rotate here, shrouded in a ghostly fog, and workers hover on the tracks in the glare of the spotlights – a total of 50,000 are toiling away on the olympia construction site.

Traffic jam in front of the registration office causes displeasure

Traffic jam in front of the registration office causes displeasure

Bamberg "how long will it take?", thomas waldschmidt asked himself. He stood in line for three hours in front of the registration office in ludwigstrabe. "An employee then, very relaxed, printed a number in my hand, number 48", says waldschmidt.

57-year-old hirschaider wanted to change his daughter's license plates in early july. He was assured on the phone that the situation was very relaxed and that no appointment was necessary. Then the unpleasant surprise: "turning into the parking lot I have already seen people standing and still thought to myself, aha a demo. The signs that the people were holding were not written signs, but car license plates", says waldschmidt. Since the beginning of the corona crisis, applicants have had to wait standing in front of the authority.

In june, klaus rakette also spent between three and four hours queuing for a registration: "it's eased up a bit in the meantime, but it's gotten worse again in the last few weeks." According to frank fortsch, the press spokesman for the bamberg district office, the renewed rush could not have been foreseen.

Redevelopment area instead of code of honor

Redevelopment area instead of code of honor

Mayor bernd ruppert (CSU) became clear in the youngest municipal council meeting hausen, before he announced the announcement of the resolutions from the non-public meeting. He noted again that resolutions and basic knowledge from the closed session had been actively communicated by individual councillors. He will not tolerate this any further with regard to the land use plan and will inform the legal supervisory authority about this.

Orders for the community center

The mayor then announced the contract awards for the sports and community center from the previous meeting. The structural design was awarded to the company lang from ebermannstadt for 112900 euro. The planning for the fire protection will be done by the company witzl from oberasbach (cost 20 160 euro), and the planning for the building physics will be done by the company basic for 27 710 euro. The roofing, waterproofing and plumbing work for the wimmelbach daycare center was awarded to the lohse company for 139,631 euros, ruppert announced. The survey of road conditions in the municipal area by means of measuring images was awarded to the company riwa for 22,922 euros. All awards are net prices.

Unanimously the council decided to join the tourist association "franken" to join. Mayor ruppert sees the newly acquired membership as a great opportunity for hausen. An important factor, according to ruppert, is the integration into the complex network of the tourism association.

The rodachtal school was her home

The rodachtal school was her home

"40 years ago, I had to introduce myself to the burgermeisters, now the burgermeister even comes to see me," says, irmgard bauerfeind says with a laugh during her farewell speech. She likes to think back to the long years at the elementary school and the former main school rodachtal. First in zeyern and then in the new school building in marktrodach.

"I received the letter from the government on 6. August 1973 again found, although already somewhat yellowed, but clearly to read is that I must in the rodachtal and I have not regretted that until today", says the retiring teacher thoughtfully. And her private happiness also affected her fellow teachers, so that after her marriage to reinhard bauerfeind she never considered a transfer. "For me, for all of us, a dream came true when we moved into the new school building. Working with the three cs – church, community, kindergarten – has always been very enjoyable for me. But what I will miss most now is 'my children', their ignorance, open-mindedness and their joy", irmgard bauerfeind gets a little sentimental. But the look goes back in gratitude, even if the farewell hurts her a bit.

There are many students who are happy to finally be released from school after nine, ten or twelve years. Irmgard bauerfeind has spent 40 years at the school, not counting her active school years, which were another 13 years plus her studies. She was and is a strong pillar of the school in marktrodach.

Record attendance at crana mare

Record attendance at crana mare

It was the eighth time that the DLRG district association had organized its well-known 24-hour swimming event in cooperation with the city of kronach and the municipal utilities. A total of 341 water rats – 59 more than two years ago – covered a distance of exactly 1192,700 meters, another great achievement! However, the top result of the last event was not quite reached, as some strong performers were not at the start.

Shared seats

From saturday, 1 p.M., to sunday, 1 p.M., the participating water rats aged between five and 75 could do their laps to their heart’s content or according to their condition. Swimming breaks were possible at any time. Also the swimming style could be chosen freely. The hardest swimmers from the respective competition classes were honored with winner trophies. Since there were many close decisions and many a podium position had to be shared, it was sometimes very tight on the "podium".
With 32,050 m, xenia makeev (age group 2003) not only achieved first place in her age group of nine to 15 years, but also the best overall performance of all participants. Second place in this age group went to lara-marie hofmann (15 km), third place to sarah hofmann (12 km). With marius jagusch (age group 2002) and konstantin mesch (age group 2004) two young swimmers reached the top of the podium with a swimming performance of 22.5 km. Third place was awarded three times this year, as kilian wegner, bastian martin and felix kopp each covered 20.1 km.
The most vigorous swimmer of the competition was gerhard wich (born in 1964), who in his age group of 15 years struggled through the water for exactly 30 150 m, followed by bjorn dorsch with 17.9 km and ulrich beez with 17.1 km.
With a strong 30 km, svenja fischer (age group 1999) equaled her swimming performance from 2015 and was again able to secure first place among swimmers over 15 years of age. Karin dressel with 19 km and jessica dietz with 17.9 km followed with a clear distance on the second and third rank.
But not only the performances of the day’s best, but also of all other participants were more than respectable. 341 participants – 144 women and 197 men – took part in the one-day endurance swim. In the youngest age group (up to and including 8 years), florian fischer (age group 2010) and anika walter (age group 2009) won the boys’ race and the girls’ race, respectively. Florian managed 4750 m, anika 8400 m.
The oldest participants also presented themselves in top shape – horst werner in the men’s category with 75 years (2.1 km) and barbara neubauer in the women’s category with 62 years (1600 m). Youngest participants were six-year-old max neidhardt (50 m) and one-year-younger freya schuberth (1 km). The participating groups also ran smoothly. DLRG kronach was once again unbeatable in the club competition. This year it covered an incredible 498.55 km, and the school with the highest number of participants was frankenwaldgymnasium with 30 swimmers.

"For the preservation of the crana mare"

The starting signal was given punctually at 1 p.M. On saturday – by the patron of the event, kronach’s mayor wolfgang beiergroblein, in the presence of the BLSV district chairman karl H. Fuck. DLRG district chief thomas gehring thanked the city and the municipal utilities as cooperation partners.
Beiergroblein thanked – also in his function as deputy district administrator – the DLRG-kreisverband kronach for the organization of the top event as well as for their readiness for action during the whole year. Under rough applause he assured to continue to use all his power for the preservation of the crana mare.
Kilian wegner, renate knobloch, richard bar and barbara neubauer were the first swimmers to enter the water before the pool was opened to all other water rats.
After the successful premiere two years ago, the recording of the participant data and the swimming performance was again done electronically. Responsible for this was christian esser, who was happy about a "super great result" and a record number of participants, which was not expected due to the good weather.
The BLSV district chairman karl H. Fick was responsible for awarding the most active swimmers with their trophies and medals. Beforehand, gehring as well as his deputy klaus bacher wanted to thank all sponsors and the many helpers. "You have done a very good job", bacher especially praised the great support of the water sports clubs – gymnastics and the swimming club of kronach – as well as the members of the DLRG and their members. But the biggest thanks goes to the participating swimmers. The crana mare was provided free of charge by the municipal utility company.

Refugees are unevenly distributed across bavaria

Refugees are unevenly distributed across bavaria

Where do most refugees live in bavaria?? Are there regions where there are above-average numbers of asylum seekers?? Actually, this should not be the case, because they should be evenly distributed across the free state in relation to the number of inhabitants. But apparently the reality lags behind the decree of the state government.

According to the latest figures, there are currently 156.000 refugees accommodated. Research by bayerischer rundfunk has now revealed that many cities with no district take in more refugees than districts in their immediate vicinity. A phenomenon that can be observed above all in franconia.

Average: twelve refugees per 1000 inhabitants

On average, bavarian counties and cities have accommodated twelve refugees (per 1,000 inhabitants) in regular facilities.

Next change of coach at kerber: beltz replaces kindlmann

Next change of coach at kerber: beltz replaces kindlmann

On the hoped-for path to old strength, angelique kerber relies on an old acquaintance.

With coach torben beltz, germany’s best female tennis player wants to build on her most successful period, when the duo won both the australian open and the US open in 2016 and kerber finished the year at number one in the world rankings. Beltz succeeds dieter kindlmann, whom kerber had hired only at the end of last year. This was announced by the management of 32-year-old.

Kerber had ended the cooperation with beltz after some failures in 2017. She then worked with belgian wim fissette, under whom she won her third and so far last grand slam title in 2018 at wimbledon. Nevertheless, kerber parted company with fissette at the end of the year and relied on rainer schuttler from then on. But even with the ex-professional, the collaboration did not last long; after the early end in wimbledon, the duo went their separate ways again.

Citizens’ initiative has city council resolution reviewed

Arkadius guzy the resistance to the planned burgerhaus has not yet ended. Elfriede dickert and ronald holl have sent a letter to the district office of bad kissingen this week. In it, they ask for a legal review of the city council’s resolution of 18 december 2009. February.

At that meeting, the city council had decided to make changes to the burgerhaus. These slightly modify the architecture of the building and are expected to make the construction of an estimated 200 000 euros more favorable. With this rezoning, the city wants to meet the demands from the referendum. However, the citizens’ initiative apparently does not go far enough for it to consider the changes as a fulfillment of the citizens’ referendum. In the justification of the letter, the representatives of the citizens’ initiative are therefore of the opinion that the current change of plans should have happened only one year after the citizens’ decision. They refer to a passage in the bavarian municipal code on the binding effect of a referendum and want the city council’s decision to be tested against it by the legal supervisory authority.

The representatives of the citizens’ initiative also complain that the citizens are "once again deprived of an insight into the plans for the construction of a citizens’ house before a decision is made by the city council" had been made. "Several offers to cooperate were not taken up", according to the letter.

Show spectacle on slippery ice in hochstadt

A delicate female fairy floats in the bright sunshine over the meadows of shire. Or: lisa noack dances at the 30. Ice gala of the ESC their version of "lord of the rings. She swings easily through the ice stadium, turns pirouettes and dares to make bold jumps.
She is one of the many young figure skaters – among the older active members of the club only four are male – who show their skills in the crosshairs of two spotlights in front of almost 1000 spectators on saturday evening. Lisa noack, like her sister kristin, is an experienced dancer, who in turn trains children and the youth groups.
Lisa escorted the visitors of the gala back into spring, after the warm temperatures at noon they had to dress again for proper cold ones.
Nevertheless, one spurts the cold at best at the own fuben. In contrast, one believes that the young figure skaters glide over a glittering dance floor, whether they as a group perform a groovy rock'n'roll on the "parquet" or how kristina dorotic and sabrina toifl make a name for themselves as wicked salon ladies. Or move the starlight express from roller skates to skids.

The roses flew

The visitors thank them with roses. They flew to anja pessler over the ice, others were modestly handed them over behind the gang. A lovely thank you for so many successful performances.
It was not about winning or losing, but about admiring the individual performances. They combined – as in hardly any other sport – athletic ability with the art of dance performance and stage show. Especially for the formations.
Two key words here: choreography and outfit. Simply imaginative: the waving nun's veils in sister act, the cute giant lollipops, the saucy twirling umbrellas or the mouse ears of the very youngest dancers.
Three years old are the youngest figure skaters of the ESC, knew host sandra arabi. Since 1986 there is this choreography to the old schlager "die subesten fruchte". It doesn't detract from the enthusiasm if the trainers prefer to take such a small ice tumble in their arms after the fall.

Csu wants tough election campaign with feeling

Csu wants tough election campaign with feeling

He wants to supplement rational election campaign arguments with emotionality, CSU leader horst seehofer said tuesday at the CSU winter meeting in wildbad kreuth. The union must not be a variant of the SPD and the greens, but an alternative. Talks with the CDU about the election campaign strategy have yet to be held. "It would be bad to announce the results of negotiations before they are held," said the CSU leader.

2009, the strategy of ronald pofalla, then CDU secretary general and now head of the chancellor’s office, was based on "asymmetric demobilization" – the SPD voters were to be made less fearful of a black-yellow coalition and thus less motivated to vote. The CSU already had doubts about the "schlaagen election campaign" at that time and subsequently felt confirmed by the unexpectedly poor results of the union – CDU/CSU had only achieved 33.8 percent at that time.

In the meantime, seehofer has abandoned his plans for his own CSU election platform. He does not want a joint election program with the CDU to fail because of the demand for a toll on cars, which was rejected by chancellor angela merkel (CDU). If necessary, however, the CSU will formulate its own points in parallel, seehofer said. "There are points where you can’t come to an understanding despite all the friendship," said the bavarian minister-president. Then it was not unusual in the past that the CSU decided on some own points on an extra sheet of paper. "This is how we will do it."
