Family business thanks all those who are working for the well-being of their fellow human beings during the crisis

"The company weckbrodt curtains has used its supplier contacts to help our county meet the challenges posed by the covid 19 pandemic. This is another example that our local companies can be relied upon and that our county is cohesive – many thanks for this commitment, which cannot be overestimated", said district administrator christian meibner on the occasion of the handover of 2000 FFP-2 masks from the michelau company to the district of lichtenfels. The district now issues the protected assets to those entitled to receive them.

2000 protective masks donated

"The donation of the 2,000 protective masks will help address material shortages in the region", emphasized michael weckbrodt from the management of heinz weckbrodt gmbh& co. KG in michelau. "Since we ourselves do not know exactly where protective equipment is most urgently needed, we have chosen the route via the district administration office, because here the distribution is organized in a needs-oriented and unbureaucratic manner."

The company heinz weckbrodt gmbh& co. KG from michelau makes curtains, drapes and window decorations in own production. For more than 70 years, the company has been supplying specialist dealers and interior decorators throughout germany, as well as all well-known mail-order companies. With around 35 employees, the family business is one of the most traditional textile manufacturers in northern bavaria.

"We are of the opinion that just in these times resident enterprises should take over a special social responsibility", philipp baszanowski from the management team explains the reasons for the move. "As a textile company with contacts to international suppliers, we tried at an early stage to use our logistics and procurement channels for the procurement of materials." Thanks to supply relationships with asian countries, it was possible to obtain the masks at relatively short notice.

Closely linked to the region

"As an owner-managed family business, we have had close ties with the region since 1948 and therefore always try to act in a forward-looking, sustainable and prudent manner. As an employer we pay attention to a respectful cooperation with our employees. With our donation, we would also like to thank all those who are working at this time for the well-being of society, whether in hospitals, doctors’ offices, care facilities or in other places", so michael weckbrodt and philipp baszanowski.

Such masks are in short supply

District administrator christian meibner emphasized at the handover that "masks of this quality are currently in short supply in our country" be. So it was all the more gratifying that the weckbrodt company took action.

The district administrator thanked the management also on behalf of the district council for the initiative and the donation. "The willingness of our companies to help and donate and the commitment of our citizens are simply impressive. Especially in these difficult times this gives us courage!".
